Smedbo

In Smedbo’s bathroom lines, most of the fittings and components are made of the highest quality solid brass. Brass manufacturing in Sweden began in the seventeenth century, mainly for jewellery and ornaments. The Skultuna Messingsbruk brass works were founded in 1607 by Charles IX, the youngest son of Gustav I. Charles IX knew that objects made of brass were considered valuable and were highly sought after in Europe. Using the income from this new brass smelting industry, Charles IX could pay off the wardebts of his father, Gustav I, and elder brother, Erik XIV. Brass smelting in Skultuna saw the start of a long tradition of craftsmanship, utilising the unique properties of brass.
